Sand Blasting Nozzle

Sand Blaster Nozzle comes in a variety of sizes and forms and is used to blast various designs onto the surface. Because of numerous factors such as the wide range of abrasive media used, their sizes, shapes, and hardness, varying air pressure coming at the nozzle for sand blasting machine, the Sand blast nozzle tips bore size and blasting nozzle mouth diameter during blast hose life, and methods of abrasive media cut-off or machine shut-down, predicting the life of a sand blasting nozzle is extremely difficult.

There should be a balance to be kept in mind when selecting a sand Blasting nozzle for sand blasting machines and shot blasting machines, and it starts with our air compressor (air consumption). We’ll look at tungsten carbide nozzle size once we understand how the size of our compressor for sand blasting nozzle air consumption influences production capacity.

Sand Blasting Nozzle size

The most often used air nozzle for sand abrasive blasting ranges from 3/8′′ inner diameter to 3/4′′ inner diameter, with 1/16′′ increments. The pressure generated by a 120 CFM air compressor is generated by an 8mm air blast nozzle. With a 210 CFM air compressor and a 10 mm sand blasting nozzle, an efficient blasting pressure may be generated.

Sand blasting Machine is the key process in the present time all the manufacturing and the fabrication company use the sand blasting machine for the surface treatment and also in the coating process the sand blasting is use before the coating for the good result the surface treatment is done eighter the sand blasting is done.

some of the main component of the sand blasting is the nozzle in the mean time where the sand blasting is new in the world that time the nozzle is made by the mild steel but now it is made by the most common is tungsten carbide powder and boron carbide the hardness of these material is too Hight so they can operated nearly the six to eight months they are found in the nearly many size like 6mm,8mm,10mm long and the short the nozzle is selected according to the size of the machine and the compressor capacity of the working compressor

There are Two simple Nozzle Shapes to Choose From:

simple orifice It creates a normal force from the nozzle out to the component. second It is a nozzle that compensates the reduce of pressure. It is narrow from the ejection to give full pressure when it is the low side from the compressor.

A nozzle’s bore shape determines its blasting patterns. Nozzles normally have either a straight bore or a restricted venture bore. Straight Bore Nozzles create a blast pattern for spot blasting

or blast cabinet work. These are best for smaller jobs such as parts clean, welding part, cleaning handrails, steps, grillwork, carving stone, and other materials. Venturi Bore Nozzles create a wide blast pattern and increase abrasive velocity by as much as 100% for a given pressure. Venturi nozzles are the best choice for greater productivity when blasting larger surfaces. Long venturi style nozzles like the sand blasting nozzle for example, yield about 40% increase in productivity compared to straight bore nozzles, while abrasive consumption can be cu approximately 40%. Double venture and wide orifice nozzles are made of the long venture style nozzle.

As a general rule, the air supply system should be able to provide at least 50% more air volume

(cfm) than a new nozzle in order to develop the required working blasting pressure, whether that

is 100 psi or 140 psi. This ensures a nozzle can continue to provide good service even after it is

slightly worn. The wrong size combination can lead to wear, pressure, and excessive internal damage.

Type of sand blasting nozzle

Straight bore nozzles

Straight bore nozzles are designed for spot blasting at close range. They’re great for cleaning small places like weldments, grillwork, and railings because they have small blast patterns and little over blast. If your machine requires a special nozzle, we can make it for you.

Venturi Blasting Nozzle

Long venturi type sand blasting nozzles have a production rate of around 40% higher than straight bore nozzles. The venturi nozzle’s internally tapered shape accelerates and uniformly distributes the abrasive across the whole blast pattern. These nozzles are made to work with a 1″ I.D. blast hose for optimum cutting power on difficult-to-clean surfaces.

Tungsten Carbide Nozzle

Our 1-1/4″ I.D. blast hose is compatible with all of our Tungsten Carbide wide throat nozzles. Tungsten Carbide nozzle have a flanged 1-1/4″ entry, a regular 1-1/4″ threaded entry, or a 50mm 2 – 4-1/2 UNC thread. By eliminating constriction and turbulence upstream of the venturi part of the nozzle, the wider throat aperture in this sand blasting nozzle delivers a 15% improvement in production over a normal venturi.

Boron carbide nozzle

Boron carbide nozzles have the highest wear resistance of any nozzle material. With optimal air and abrasive usage, peak nozzle production performance is maintained for longer periods of time. Boron carbide nozzle typically last five to ten times longer than tungsten carbide nozzles. When working with abrasives like aluminium oxide and aggressive mineral aggregates, boron carbide nozzles are recommended.

XL Performance nozzles

The XL Performance nozzles boost the velocity of abrasive particles, increasing production rates and efficiencies. For the same bore size, the XL Performance nozzles will use the same amount of compressed air (CFM) as our normal long venturi products, resulting in cheaper compressed air running expenses per square foot / metre. These products are made using our popular lightweight BP200 SiAlON material, which helps to reduce nozzle weight and operator fatigue.
